For the garage wall........or wherever, you might like a sign or some posters.
£10 each + £2 for a stout tube + postage, my copy shown here is between a piece of hardboard and some thin perspex, much more practical than glass ! 38 x 27 inches.
This is very heavy being cast iron and about 20 inches diameter and 2 inches thick. GUARANTEED original from about 1890 / 1900 from the original ROYCE works in Manchester.
I have this single sided cast bronze sign of which type I am assured used to hang outside a R-R dealer’s premises in the UK in the early post war years. I have also been told they had one in Conduit Street in London. This is about 15 x 9 inches and has four tapped / threaded lugs on the back for flush mounting. It has been made in recent years by the same firm that made other signs and R-R material. 6.1 kilos in weight. IDEAL for the garage wall or even the den ! This looks absolutely superb in, of course, ROYAL blue.
In about 1920, Rolls-Royce gave dealers signs to hang inside or outside their R-R car showrooms. In recent years a man who got hold of the original pattern re made some for dealers to use for display purposes. This above is one of them, it is DOUBLE SIDED about 26 x 15 x 1.5 inches thick and weighs about 22 pounds ( 10.1 kilos ).
This sign is 40 inches long and weighs about 13 kilos, some 29 pounds. It is single sided, flat on the back, made from cast aluminium. There are two lugs at the top for screw fastening or for hooks if you wanted to suspend it. The sign turned up at a Rolls-Royce Club Annual Rally, I acquired it and made many enquiries as to its history or where it was used. The only information I had back was from a reader of AUTOCAR magazine, in which a photograph of it appeared, to the effect that it is the type that used to be suspended over stands at the Motor Show. A man who casts for Rolls-Royce made this copy some years ago. It really does look dramatic, the sharply cut letters stand proud by about a quarter of an inch, the background part is half an inch thick. This looks superb hanging in my garage, it can hang in yours if you wish ! The raised letters were polished and lacquered, the black part just needs a very little touch up.
This aluminium pressing would be for the top of the Bentley engine. Unmarked and unused, about 6 inches
The Rolls-Royce sign below is about 29 inches tall and about 5/8 inches thick. This is a type that has been used by Rolls-Royce dealers as a service sign, it has been polished up and looks superb. Made of aluminium, it is about 12 kilos ( about 22 pounds ) weight. If you are in the car business or just collect artefacts to decorate the walls of your Motor House, this would be ideal for you. You will see that it has lugs at the top which are drilled so that it could be wall mounted or hung from chain.
